Designer Profile of Micheal Kors.

                                            Happy Monday!
Yes, It's Monday! & don't forget weekend is always coming back again! & I hope your having a wonderful night so far!
Today we are talking about a designer that I'm a huge fan of & I have been a fan of his since I first started watching Project Runway in 2006! I know... I was 15! & so young!
                             Designer Profile: Michael Kors
(Mini Bio)
Michael Kors has had an affinity for fashion since he was very young child he studied the fashion sketches in the New York Times newspaper.
His mother thought it may have had to something to do with the fact that he was exposed to the apparel industry through her modeling career.

As a teen, Michael began designing clothes and selling them out of his parents’ basement which he renamed the Iron Butterfly.
In 1977, he enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
However, he dropped out after only nine months and took at job at a boutique across from Bergdorf on 57th Street where he was given a small space to sell his designs.

Shorty after Dawn Mello, the former fashion director at Bergdorf Goodman, discovered Michael.
once he has one to show with business partner John Orchulli, he immediately establishes his own line, working from a small Greenwich Village apartment that he shares with a cat named Max.
May: Calls Dawn Mello at Bergdorf’s and says he’s ready to roll.
December: In a Vogue profile, he says, “The great detail that makes a jacket is also the same detail that’s going to date it. I don’t want anything to date my clothes."
She asked if he would show his collection to Bergdorf Goodman’s buyers
and he has had his collection ever since there.

In 1981, Kors launched the Michael Kors womenswear line at Bloomingdales, Bergdorf Goodman, Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue.
In 1993 June: With the entire industry weathering a recession—and after a manufacturing deal for his bridge line falls apart—Kors files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
December: Supermodel Linda Evangelista wears a white linen Kors pantsuit in “Eastern Light,” a memorable Vogue portfolio shot in Southern China by Arthur Elgort.

In 1996 January: The designer reintroduces his bridge line, Kors Michael Kors, with Onward Kashiyama for fall. March: “Even at the height of the eighties, which we called the Dynasty years, we were doing quiet,” Kors says in a WWD story on minimalism.
May: Shows first Michael Kors for Pologeorgis fur collection. July: Recognized as “one of the most influential designers of the decade”
in Vogue’s “Fashion’s New Establishment” feature.

Building on his success, Kors was named the first ever women's ready-to-wear designer and creative director for the French fashion house Celine in 1997.

In 1998 March: Makes his debut at Céline for fall.
August: Vogue features Kors’s designs for the French house on its cover.

Why I'm a Fan of Michael Kors?
His Style is very Classic American In my taste & I remember I was 15 & I loved watching the Michael Kors Ads come on TV, the women looked tasteful & didn't look like that had a care in the world & carried themselves with such confidence & they looked like a Million bucks, I always told my mom, I want to be Like them.. But Now, I know what Michael Kors taught Me & every women & man, that You don't need to spend a lot of Money on clothes, It's how You wear the clothes! & How Much Confidence you have in yourself!
If I were to meet Michael Kors, I would Tell him that & how he helped see that It's how You wear the clothes! & How You feel in clothes.

Stay Classy!
&
See you Wednesday
